Open Event 2021

Sixth Form Open Events: Wednesday 6th October and Tuesday 12th October

SIXTH FORM OPEN EVENT PART 1: Online presentations and Q&A session - Wednesday 6th October. This will be a live event broadcast over MS Teams. Mr Scott-Evans (Head Teacher) and Mr Peggs (Assistant Head Teacher and Head of Sixth Form) will speak about our distinctive approaches to learning, character, supporting students to achieve their ambitions and more! There will also be 30 minutes for families to ask the questions they most want answers to. There will be one session from 5:00pm until 6:00pm and one from 7:00pm until 8:00pm. Click here to book your tickets on Eventbrite. Further details will be there and more will be sent to you after you have booked your tickets.
SIXTH FORM OPEN EVENT PART 2: Subject fair on site - Tuesday 12th October. This is a great chance for you to meet key members of staff at Becket Keys, including teachers of A Level subjects. You will also get to meet current Sixth Formers - both those who have been at Becket Keys since Year 7 and those who joined at the start of Year 12. To ensure that we keep everyone safe, we are spreading the subject across the site and, also, having staggered start times across the evening (you will be able to book a specific hour-long time slot). Click here to book your tickets on Eventbrite. Further details will be there and more will be sent to you after you have booked your tickets.
It is recommended that you attend both events as they have separate purposes.

Other key dates can be found on this page.

It is worth noting these dates now as there are several important events which provide excellent ways for students to find out more about Becket Keys and gain support when making crucial decisions. For example, the consultations in November, Sixth Former for a Day in January and the Bridging Event in June are designed with students’ needs at these points in mind. Further details about each of these will be provided during the open event.

The open event is a great opportunity for students and parents to visit Becket Keys and see the site (including the Sixth Form area), meet teachers, get to know other students and discover what is included in the curriculums of different subjects. Relevant members of staff will deliver talks to provide all the information anyone would want to know, from what to consider when choosing subjects to what a ‘typical’ day is like and from the support students are given when preparing for life after Becket Keys to how external students are integrated seamlessly.

During the 2020-21 academic year, we were not able to host an open event on site. Consequently, we made a series of videos with lots of information on. These are still available below and will provide some information, although the best way to get to know the school, staff and students is by attending the open evening. It is also worth noting that some information is now out of date - so attending the open event is the best way to get a totally accurate understanding.

You can still view our virtual open evening from 2020 by watching the videos below. There is information from Mr Peggs, our Head of Sixth Form which you should watch first, and one of our current students gives you a guided tour of the Sixth Form area. We hear from students who have joined us from another school and there are a number of subject videos where Heads of Departments give you an overview of the subject.

1). How to apply

2). Choosing subjects

3). How we help you choose subjects

4). Helping you settle into Sixth Form

Then check out our virtual tour of the Sixth Form Area with Deputy Head Girl Ella Gibson.
